The Sarah Rogerson RecordSenate District 44 · Saratoga & Schenectady

A far-left Albany academic who would make the affordability crisis worse.

Sarah Rogerson is a law-school professor and immigration-clinic director running on Kathy Hochul's Democratic playbook: higher taxes, higher bills, catch-and-release bail, and open-border politics. Families in Saratoga and Schenectady already paying more to live here should reject her.

She's out of touch and too extreme for District 44.

01The Cost of Living

District 44 families can’t afford Sarah Rogerson.

Rather than fix the affordability crisis, Rogerson would rubber-stamp the same Albany agenda that drove up taxes, utility bills, and the cost of staying in New York.

On the Niskayuna school board, she did not cut. She spent.

Now she wants Albany. She has made passing the New York Health Act — single-payer government healthcare — “one of my highest priorities.” That bill would be the highest tax increase in New York history.

That is not relief. That is a new tax system sold as affordability.

Hochul Democrats already spent billions on free health care, food, transportation, legal aid, and housing for illegal immigrants while working families paid more for power, groceries, and rent.

Businesses left. Families left.

Rogerson is not a check on that record. She is the next vote for it.

02The Filings

We can’t trust Sarah Rogerson.

She tells local voters this race is about their kitchen table. Her filings say otherwise.

The same campaign paid $6,500 to Lourdes Orquidea Licona Estevez of Chile for “professional services.” Why is a New York Senate campaign sending sixty-five hundred dollars to Chile?

The filing does not say what was purchased or why that payee belongs on a Capital Region report.

03In Her Own Words

Sarah Rogerson is too extreme.

This is not a moderate school-board résumé. It is the law-school left, in writing.

  1. 2019NYS Bar AssociationCalls deportation “a life sentence.”
  2. 2020On TwitterTells ICE to “stop the deportation machine.”
  3. 2020Niskayuna Board of EdMoves Policy 3450, the district’s Anti-Racism Policy, and votes aye.
  4. 2026Campaign FacebookSays New York should “move toward ending the role of ICE in our communities.”
  5. 2026Campaign FacebookPromotes the New York For All Act, which would block local and state police from helping enforce immigration law.

That is how criminal illegal aliens stay here. Hochul's New York already spent billions on shelter, food, health care, transportation, and lawyers for them. Rogerson's record is to go further: shrink ICE and stop local cooperation.

On crime, she stands with Albany's catch-and-release bail laws. In 2020 she promoted a bail-fund appeal. She is not running to repeal the experiment. She is running to join the conference that refuses to end it.

On the Niskayuna board she did not wait to be asked. She moved Policy 3450 and voted aye. The text cited systemic racism, affirmed that Black lives matter, and pledged to “dismantle” it in the schools.

Her own campaign site describes the clinic she built as the “front lines opposing Trump's war.”

That is the candidate. Not a neighbor looking for lower bills.

An academic looking for a bigger stage.

The verdict

District 44 cannot afford another Hochul Democrat.

  • Not on taxes.
  • Not on bills.
  • Not on bail.
  • Not on the border.
